Unlock Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres first, then reach 60 League members and clear Hard Rocky Desert to make Mewtwo eligible. Mew is last: capture the other 78 League members. Complete every requirement on a card, then finish its capture path. The 45-minute Survival Mewtwo is a boss milestone, not a shortcut to the permanent League unlock. This guide refers to Charcher’s original PokéBonk.

The complete legendary dependency chain

The recorded 0.6.3 League has 79 members. Its count is different from the 151-entry Season 1 Pokédex. A seen entry, a defeated shrine boss and a Support Alpha are not substitutes for a permanent League capture.

Target Required League members Other requirements — all must be satisfied Next step
Articuno 45 Win Viridian Forest on Hard; freeze 2,500 Pokémon in one run Capture its eligible legendary wild encounter
Zapdos 50 Win Rocky Desert; get 3,000 rain KOs in one run Capture its eligible legendary wild encounter
Moltres 55 Defeat Moltres in Rocky Desert on Hard; burn 8,000 Pokémon in one run Capture its eligible legendary wild encounter
Mewtwo 60 Capture Articuno and Zapdos and Moltres; win Rocky Desert on Hard Win its special Classic encounter, then throw the capture ball
Mew 78 other members The full remaining League, including Mewtwo Capture its eligible legendary wild encounter

The route is grow the League → meet each bird’s map and single-run conditions → capture all three birds → meet Mewtwo’s remaining conditions → capture Mewtwo → finish all 78 other members → capture Mew. The League membership thresholds rise from 45 to 50 to 55, but the bird cards do not require the previous bird by name. You can work on their freeze, rain and burn records before you reach those membership totals. Mewtwo explicitly needs all three captures.

The map-tier checks are saved Classic progress. The source describes Moltres’s Hard Desert requirement as defeating Moltres; its counter is the Hard Rocky Desert clear tier. A separate earlier Moltres encounter does not replace that map result. Use the map guide to unlock Rocky Desert and the mode guide for Normal, Hard and Nightmare selection. Higher recorded map tiers meet the minimum tier check; the single-run status conditions still need to be met.

How to unlock Articuno

Meet 45 League members + a Hard Viridian Forest clear + 2,500 freezes in one run. The freezes must be in a single run. A series of 500-freeze runs will not add up to this requirement.

Prepare a build that can actually apply Frozen, then check the run’s result and the card’s progress. Read the move reference and status mechanics to distinguish an Ice-type hit from a move or effect that applies Frozen. Once the full card is complete, the ordinary ready-member encounter system can select Articuno. Capture that encounter rather than stopping after the Hard Forest victory.

Articuno’s Ice/Flying signature kit is Freeze-Dry at start, Mist from level 2, Bleakwind Storm from level 4 and Glaciate from level 7. Those levels open candidates; they do not force an offer on that exact level. Articuno’s reference card.

How to unlock Zapdos

Meet 50 League members + a Rocky Desert clear + 3,000 rain KOs in one run. The map clear and the rain record are separate saved conditions; the card does not say you must get those rain KOs during the Desert clear.

Viridian Forest’s captured weather pool includes rain, while Rocky Desert’s ordinary pool is clear, sand and sun. Plan the rain condition around actual weather. Soaked is a combat status; it is not the same check as the run’s rain weather. The runtime increments rain KOs when an enemy is credited while the weather equals rain. Check weather and reaction rules before relying on a Water move to progress the card.

Zapdos’s Electric/Flying signature kit is Bolt Beak → Wildbolt Storm → Thunderclap → Electro Shot, with gates at start / 2 / 4 / 7. After all conditions are ready, find and capture its eligible legendary encounter. Zapdos’s reference card.

How to unlock Moltres

Meet 55 League members + the Hard Rocky Desert Moltres clear + 8,000 burns in one run. The recorded burn target is a single-run status count, not total Fire damage or an accumulated career total.

Use a build that applies Burn, and keep enough healing or protection to survive while making the record. The Charmander build explains its Fire route and low-HP tradeoff; it does not promise the 8,000 target or a clear for every setup. After completing the card, capture Moltres’s separate eligible wild encounter. Defeating the Desert shrine legendary contributes the required clear, but a normal non-shiny shrine defeat does not automatically put that boss in the League.

Moltres’s Fire/Flying signature kit is Incinerate → Fly → Searing Shot → Overheat, with gates at start / 2 / 4 / 7. Moltres’s reference card.

How to unlock Mewtwo

Mewtwo’s requirements are 60 League members AND Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres captured into the League AND a Hard Rocky Desert clear. Merely seeing all three birds, defeating them as bosses, or having them beside you as support does not satisfy the bird check.

Mewtwo uses a special Classic arena encounter, instead of being selected from the ordinary ready-member pool:

  1. Verify every part of the Mewtwo card is complete in Play → The League.
  2. Start a Classic run. In the captured runtime, the special encounter can be prepared in zone 2 or zone 3, while Mewtwo is ready and has not already been fought in that run.
  3. Continue playing and watch for the psychic-presence announcement. The source schedules its initial check 70–150 seconds into the zone, then waits while a boss, event, final swarm or other capture is occupying the run. That range is a scheduling check, not a guaranteed arrival time.
  4. Defeat Mewtwo in the arena. Keep room to move inside the boundary; the encounter confines the fight instead of letting you run indefinitely away.
  5. After defeat, Mewtwo transfers to a capturable weakened state. Move within the displayed prompt’s range and press E on the default desktop binding, or your configured interaction button.
  6. Confirm the joins your League result and check The League after the run.

This arena handoff uses a guaranteed throw state in the captured runtime. It holds the weakened state rather than using the ordinary countdown, but you still need to approach and throw. Do not transplant that behavior to a roaming bird encounter, which uses the ordinary capture rules below.

Mewtwo’s Psychic signature kit is Psycho Cut → Psystrike → Prismatic Laser → Psycho Boost, gated at start / 2 / 4 / 7. Mewtwo’s full card.

Reading Mewtwo’s arena attacks

These responses follow the captured attack implementation. They are practical interpretations of its tells, not a claimed winning run or a damage ranking.

Tell or attack What the source does Response to plan
Psycho Cut Fires successive fans aimed toward your position Keep an escape lane and move across the fan rather than remaining on its aim line
Blink strike / marked circles Repositions near you, then resolves a local circle; later phases can repeat Leave the circle and keep moving after the first detonation
Confusion chain Places repeated delayed circles at the player’s position Continue changing position rather than returning immediately to the last marker
Psywave, clones and Telekinesis Later phases add expanding waves, extra firing positions and delayed rocks Read the wave opening and ground tells; avoid focusing only on Mewtwo’s sprite
Recovery Below 30% HP in phase 3, it can begin a 3.4-second healing channel; losing 5% of maximum HP during the channel interrupts it, otherwise it restores 8% maximum HP Preserve an attack opportunity for the channel instead of assuming the fight is already over
Psystrike / calm bubbles Creates safe bubbles before the arena blast; the final safety check is inside a bubble Enter a visible calm bubble before the blast resolves

The arena also periodically places healing berries. Reach one when the path is safe instead of crossing a marked attack just because healing is available. An attack name in this boss kit is not proof that the playable member’s move has identical damage or behavior.

How to unlock Mew

Capture all other 78 League members. The runtime counts League membership while excluding Mew itself, so this is not a request to fill all 151 Pokédex entries. It includes the three birds and Mewtwo, plus every ordinary member in the 79-member reference.

When the count reaches 78, Mew becomes eligible for the ordinary ready-member encounter pool. Start a run, watch for its announcement, weaken it and finish the capture. Mew is Psychic, with Psychic → Aura Sphere → Ancient Power → Moonblast, gated at start / 2 / 4 / 7.

Viridian Forest’s shrine also uses Mew as its legendary boss. Defeating that shrine Mew is different from completing Mew’s League card and capturing its ready-member encounter. A shiny shrine boss has an additional shiny capture handoff, but a shiny-only capture is still not an automatic bypass of the League requirement. Mew’s reference card · shiny capture outcomes.

Ordinary legendary capture versus a special handoff

Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres and ready-member Mew use the ordinary League encounter path. The captured configuration gives a roaming legendary 240 seconds before escape, compared with 150 seconds for an ordinary non-legendary member. Defeating the marked encounter leaves it at 1% maximum HP with an initial 10-second weakened capture window.

Move closer than 9 in-game distance units and use the capture prompt. A failed throw makes a retry easier, but three failed throws make an ordinary capture encounter flee. If the weakened timer expires instead, it recovers to 40% HP and returns to roaming. Watch the live prompt and encounter timer; do not assume the guaranteed Mewtwo arena handoff applies to this path.

The general unlock walkthrough retains the full capture sequence. Support Alphas instead use a Friend Ball, an eight-second window and a different retry/replacement flow.

Does Survival Mewtwo at 45 minutes unlock it?

No. Survival’s ninth five-minute milestone is Mewtwo, nominally 45:00. Its arrival can wait for an active fight or run state, so a timer reaching 45:00 does not guarantee an immediate spawn. In the Survival version, the arena’s defeat handler returns to the milestone reward flow instead of transferring Mewtwo to the League capture state.

Use Survival for its own milestone, scoring and reward tasks. To play as Mewtwo, finish the League prerequisites and the Classic arena capture described above. See Survival events and game modes for the event and pact systems.

Sources and version scope

Requirements, signature kits, active Season 1 maps and membership counts come from the original 0.6.3 configuration, collected 18 October 2026 and re-read 19 October. Encounter selection, AND checks, Mew exclusion, Mewtwo arena, attacks, boss handoffs and Survival milestone logic come from the matching runtime. These are source-derived instructions, not a claim that we captured every legendary or completed a 45-minute run. Later patch notes are dated separately; the later server and leaderboard fixes do not by themselves redefine these captured challenge records.
